Looking for advice - 12 year old son interested in lacrosse

Postby dcamp on Tue Jul 06, 2010 11:33 am

Hello -- my 12 year old son learned the basics of lacrosse in middle school this past year and would really like to learn more about the sport/develop some skills -- unfortunately, we don't really know how to go about that -- none of his buddies play and we're not sure how/where we could get him playing. Any advice on where to start is very much appreciated. (A bit more info: We live in W. Raleigh, near NCSU, and he's a tall/lanky kid with good hand/eye coordination, but would really be starting from very basic skills, but he learns pretty fast). Thanks for your help,

Doug

Two good instructional programs for the fall. LaxTech, http://www.lacrossetech.com, has Saturday instructional sessions And NC Lax Academy, http://www.nclaxacademy.com, has a Sunday morning instructional camp, click on RALLY Programs for this info. Both are conducted by lacrosse people who really are interested in teaching the skills necessary for each player to succeed at lacrosse.

Also, Riverside HS in Durham has their summer instructional camp, Bull City Lacrosse Camp, July 19-23, 9am to 12 noon. Go to http://rhslacrosse.com/bullcity/ for more information.
